Good morning…
“I want to share this tune written by my nephew, which was released yesterday,” a friend wrote on Saturday. “He’s a father of three neat kids (15, 17, 20) and recently divorced. He’s reflecting on his hope that his kids know that the time they spend together outweighs any of the mundane daily ‘stuff.’ Definitely comes from deep in his heart.”
“I absolutely love this,” I wrote back. “I am listening to it as I sit at TGIFridays on the Delta wing of the Atlanta airport. I have an hour before my plane boards for Cleveland, Ohio. I will visit my parents and both of my siblings, some nieces and nephews on a chilly, rainy weekend.”
“This song speaks of the truth I have grown into over the past three years, visiting my parents about every other month while my mom has recovered from a series of falls, slow times of recovery, and aging’s natural slowing down process,” I explained. “Spills used to drive us all crazy. Now they pale in comparison to the relaxed corduroy joy of just being together. I will post this song with our text exchange, praying that God’s grace will blanket our holidays as we head back home.”
As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work. We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us (Colossians 1:10-12, MSG).
