Good morning…

On Saturday at noon, two young men from our community were laid to final rest, following two touching memorial services in two different parts of town. Josh Patrick lived twenty-three vibrant years on this earth, and Christopher Rascoe was twenty-four years old when he took his final breath. Our youngest son is twenty-three, soon turning twenty-four, so the sorrow of these grieving family and friends weighs heavy on my heart. Then, by weekend’s end, two more precious loved ones each went home to God, Jim and Lucinda.

Now I remember back to the blessing spoken by a friend: “There is an ocean of grace and love and power lying all around us, an ocean where all of earthly life is but a drop. It is ready to transfigure us.”

God’s love is meteoric, his loyalty astronomic, his purpose titanic, his verdicts oceanic. Yet in his largeness nothing gets lost; not a man, not a mouse, slips through the cracks (Psalm 36:5-6, MSG).
