Good morning…

I was touched by a reading of this moving poem.

THIS BITTER EARTH by Clyde Otis

This bitter earth
Well, what a fruit it bears
What good is love
Mmm, that no one shares
And if my life is like the dust
Ooh, that hides the glow of a rose
But what good am I
Heaven only knows

Lord, this bitter earth
Yes, can be so cold
Today you’re young
Too soon, you’re old
But while a voice within me cries
I’m sure someone may answer my call
And this bitter earth
Ooh, may not, oh, be so bitter after all

As the Israeli hostages and their loved ones hope to emerge from the darkest of all darkness and the Palestinian people begin to find relief from their starvation and their deep, deep grief, may our prayers from around the globe wipe dust from the glow of the roses in Gaza.

As all of those who are suffering emerge and find relief, might we somehow be a someone who answers the bitter call?

You hear us pray in words and silence; all humanity comes into Your presence (Psalm 65:2, VOICE).
