undone

Good morning…

“Here’s another reminder of our ‘seed’ analogies in our reading lately,” texted a friend, sharing the image above. I love the organic wisdom revealed. As we continue to explore our spiritual growth into Christlikeness, as measured by an ancient personality tool called the Enneagram, might we embody the “seed” quote by Cynthia Occellia?

“For my true, authentic self to achieve its greatest expression, my false, adapted self must come completely undone. When the conditions are favorable and God’s timing is right, my hardened, self-protective shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand spiritual growth, the act of surrendering our whole self to God, allowing our ‘Big I’ to die, would look like complete destruction.”

Jesus himself used the “seed” analogy, inviting us to follow his lead in life, through death, into resurrection. “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone [just one grain, never more]. But if it dies, it produces much grain and yields a harvest” (John 12:24, AMP).

As our self-protective shell comes completely undone, everything, everything changes.
