wreathe

Good morning…

I have never cut from the yard fresh greens and red berries to decorate a Christmas wreathe from scratch. At age 58, I savor this first. On Monday my dear friend invited me to come to her basement, and together we collaborated to create fresh, homemade beauty. What fun!

Our selfie turned out goofy, but our front door feels fantastic, festive. This December 1st, I cherish the memory of our shared, creative first.

To cherish means to admire, adore, appreciate.

To care for, cling to, cultivate.

To honor, harbor, hold dear.

Each of these grateful verbs takes our precious time and our full attention. Throughout this month, all of us will journey through joys and sorrows, big and small, day in and night out. Slowing down to notice sacred moments, will we choose to cherish the firsts, the lasts and the ordinary experiences in between?

The eyes of our heart now turn toward our God, whose eyes and heart are always turned toward us. Every single moment you are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that you cherish me constantly in your every thought! O God, your desires toward me are more than the grains of sand on every shore! When I awake each morning, you’re still with me (Psalm 139:17-18, TPT).

As we awake with our God this December 1st, what blessings might we choose to cherish first?
