Good morning…
In my message yesterday morning, I honored my faithful friend Julie Harlan and by mid afternoon I got word that Julie had passed on to heaven. Her husband’s words posted earlier this week have met their sequel. Chad wrote on Julie’s CaringBridge page, “EVERYONE wonders how this rare form of cancer could happen to a healthy, fit, selfless, God-loving, awesome 41yr old mother and wife (with zero cancer history in her family I might add).” Now we all ask, “How could this amazing woman die so quickly?”
For a long time I sat on my back porch, wordless. All questions, no answers. Frozen in a helpless, holy hush.
Then I pulled out my journal and I jotted these words.
“My eyes quietly take in the fresh, bright green of the new spring leaves. My ears bask in the calming chorus of the birds and the butterflies. My skin feels the dance of the swirling breeze. My hurting heart weeps, ‘How can the universe go on without skipping a beat?’ Singing with the wind chimes, I sense Julie’s message, ‘Heaven and earth are intertwined. Do not fear, only trust. I am with you forever, as close as God. Come on dear ones, let’s keep alive our constant conversation.'”
The Lord says: “My people,
I promise to give you my Spirit
and my message.
These will be my gifts to you
and your families forever.
I, the Lord, have spoken,” (Isaiah 59:21, CEV).
