bed

Good morning…

As a retired english teacher, he said, “Every year, I would share with the kids my favorite Hemingway quote.”

The greatest

act of courage

is getting

out of bed

each morning.

Right now, my prayers are with the courageous ones who are facing the difficulty of illness, Alzheimers, powerlessness. The courageous ones who are experiencing the danger of hatred, depression, addiction. The courageous ones dealing with the pain of grief, estrangement, post-surgery recovery. Getting out of bed and stepping into overwhelming circumstances, this takes courage today.

Dictionary.com tells us that courage is “the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear.”

I wonder to myself, “Might the most courageous of all be the ones who actually feel the fear…and…get out…of bed…anyway?”

“Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. …because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you” (Deuteronomy 31:6, MSG).

…Sue…

P.S. Also our prayers extend to all those courageous ones who do not have a bed on this bitter cold morning. And our prayers go out to the family of our longtime friend Kimberly Tye. Today, we will celebrate the life of Jason A. Craig, the 46-year-old husband of Kimberly’s younger sister and the deeply missed dad of their five year old son and their toddling daughter.
