Good morning…
We had great time at PAWkids yesterday. Laughing. Dancing. Playing ball. Making tissue paper flowers, homemade cards, and wrapping donated jewelry for Mother’s Day gifts. Enjoying a generous dinner served by the Tuesday night Bible study from Northside Church. We had a really great time.
And yet, just now, I woke from a bad dream. I dreamed that two siblings, a boy and a girl that we know well, went home from our fun time together. Excitedly, they burst in the door and shared their bags of gifts with their mom. Their immense joy turned into horror as, later that night, their mom overdosed on pills she had been hoarding. Burdened with her own unresolved stuff, she felt unable to receive the genuine love her children creatively expressed. Isn’t that a really bad dream?
We know that all of us face a wide range of emotions every single day. My high high experience gave way to a low low dream. Extreme joy and deep sorrow co-exist within the recesses of our innermost being.
I have a special word of caution for you who are sure that you have it all together yourselves and, because you know God’s revealed Word inside and out, feel qualified to guide others through their blind alleys and dark nights and confused emotions to God. While you are guiding others, who is going to guide you? (Romans 2:18-21, MSG).
Dear God, please help us take quality time with You to process our own unresolved stuff. Empower us to give and to receive Your joyful, genuine love.
