Good morning…
“And here is the miracle —” writes poet Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, “to find in grief not only sorrow but a ravenous gratefulness for life, to find in loss not only emptiness but an unimaginable abundance. It doesn’t happen in a day, no, not even in a year, but who said miracles need be instantaneous.”
Words from Ralph Waldo Emerson continue to color in the miracle. “This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life.”
The completion of Love doesn’t happen in a day, no, not even in a year. The miracle of grief and gratefulness happens gradually. You’ll be a blessing and also get a blessing . . . embrace life and see the day fill up with good (1 Peter 3:9-10, MSG).
…Sue…
P.S. On this day when Sue Mitchell is laid to final rest, may her beloved family and many friends find in grief not only sorrow but a ravenous gratefulness for the gift of Sue’s abundant life.
