Good morning…

We wake on the day that Scott’s body will be laid to rest. As his obituary so beautifully reveals, he loved so very well. His amazing wife, his two young kids, his extended family, his many friends, his church, his work, Scott loved so very, very well.

Basking in the sunshine streaming into our church, I made four Wordless Prayer Cards in our class yesterday. A card for his wife, his family, his friends, and a card for our church family who will deeply miss his committed presence. These “cards without words” say what I feel, what I grieve, what I hope for the loved ones of Scott.

In these early morning hours, I pull out the card I made for his wife, who is in our Wednesday night class for young moms. I lay it on the fuzzy blanket wrapped on my lap. God, what deep prayers does this card hold?

What a faithful couple. Their bond is so strong, so loyal, so real. As they now learn to bridge the thin gap between earth and heaven, I pray that they melt into oneness in a brand new way.

Our bodies are like a tent that we live in here on earth. One day, that home will come to an end. But we know that God will give us a new home. It is not a house that a human builder has built. God has built it for us in heaven and we will live there for ever (2 Corinthians 5:1, EASY).
