tears

Good morning…

This week of our oldest son’s wedding, I blogged about my emotional thunderstorm. One reader’s response was short and swift.

Good morning ☀️
Your emotional storm…

It is real because…
You planned
Laid logistics
Loved
Prayed
Dreamed
Worked
Made lists
Posted post it notes
Expected
Cultivated
Stayed awake
Laughed
Loved and planned more
Had ideas of how things were supposed to go

I’ve been where you are…

Your heart hurts, you want to control the situation. What I had to realize it was time to take my hands off. Show grace and love and give permission to embrace whatever happens. Although your parents may not be at your son’s wedding in person, the spirit of love, support and lifelong dreams bonds you wherever you are.

Charleston awaits….

“Thank you,” I wrote back to this regular reader I have never met. “Your quirky email makes me cry. It’s true. My emotional thunderstorm is real and it is very important to feel, as the swirling emotions pass through me like a good hard rain.”

Falling into God’s sturdy, invisible web of support, I feel seen, known, understood. O my soul, come, praise the Eternal with all that is in me—body, emotions, mind, and will—every part of who I am… (Psalm 103:1, VOICE).

…Sue…

P.S. My mom will see her doctor today at 1:00 pm. Please lift prayers for clarity, healing, and wisdom as my parents decide whether they will attend the wedding, in person or in Spirit from afar. As Hurricane Idalia heads toward Florida before traveling up the coast through Charleston, please pray for all of the people living in the path of this storm.
