Good morning…
A passing comment by Dr. Cathy Snapp at our Awake To Wellness Women’s Retreat unloosened an important memory, floating it to the top of my conscious awareness before forming it into yesterday’s post, Feeling Healing.
Cathy said something like this: “Sometimes I envision Jesus putting his hands on my head, sending light into my brain, loosening my fear, my worry, my obsessive sense of ‘not enough.’ Tears are the seeds of our deep healing. The Spirit is clearing and cleansing. Thoughts from our dendrites, they come together and connect. An old, negative pattern of thought uncouples. A change of mind happens. The mind actually changes.”
Cathy envisioning Jesus’ healing touch rewiring her brain reminds me of the healing touch of Jan Johnson I wrote about yesterday. Tender touch coupled with soothing voice and God’s living Word, impacts us on a deep, cellular level. It seems to me that the more of our senses we activate simultaneously, the more lasting the benefit of our healing experience.
When the sun was setting, everyone who had any friends suffering from various diseases brought them to him. He placed his hands on each of them and began healing them (Luke 4:40, ISV).
