Good morning…
It was not until the final week of class that I understood exactly why God had chosen The Book of Hygge for our Moms of Lovett Seniors Study. (Find the first words in the book quoted in yesterday’s post, Hygge: God’s Remedy.)
Once we hosted our Awake To Wellness Women’s Retreat, a fresh insight dawned on me. When each of us chooses to spend 25 to 30 seconds focusing on something beautiful, something life-giving, something sparking gratitude, we rewire our brain, uncoupling clusters of negative thoughts, connecting at an astounding rate positive thoughts to change the very fabric our mind, which will eventually change the very fabric of our world.
Listen to the wisdom saturating the final page of our semester’s book: “Through our thirst for connection, our future is created one gathering, one encounter, one moment at a time. Hygge rekindles our awareness of the importance and pleasure of mutuality and celebrates our interconnectedness. It keeps us engaged with the lifelong task of living in intimate and loving relation to the world around us. We pass on the spirit of hygge through the quality of our presence. Ideas and values travel. Through hygge, each one of us can know a sense of deeper contentment that will radiate out from us into a global web of belonging togetherness.” (187)
We thirst for connection. Ours future is being created today. Rekindle awareness one moment at a time. Find pleasure in mutuality. Celebrate interconnectedness. Live in intimate and loving relationships. We pass on God’s Spirit through the quality of our presence. Life-giving ideas and positive values travel, radiating out from us into a global web of belonging together. This is God’s collective will for all of us.
But friends, you’re not in the dark, so how could you be taken off guard by any of this? You’re sons of Light, daughters of Day. We live under wide open skies and know where we stand… Since we’re creatures of Day, let’s act like it. Walk out into the daylight sober, dressed up in faith, love, and the hope of salvation (1 Thessalonians 5:4-8, MSG).
