“Bark less. Wag more.” I love this bumpersticker wisdom, but truthfully when I have the urge to bark, I don’t naturally wag. To wag more each day I must exchange my barking spirit for God’s Spirit that wags.
Here are the traits of God’s wagging Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22, NIV). In contrast, the spirit of my human nature barks hatred, depression, anxiety, “HURRY UP”, selfishness, evil urges, waffling, harshness, and an intense drive to control. I need to disrobe from my selfish spirit to be dressed by Christ in the Spirit of God.
I love the bumpersticker wisdom: “Bark less. Wag more.” It reminds me to shed my nature for God’s nature. And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you (Ephesians 4:23-24, MSG).
