family-serve

Good morning…

“Action Ministries now requires you to bring your own personal mask to wear while packing food boxes,” she texted me to help find two more people to serve with her small group of friends. Our family already knew the new face mask rule, having served together on Good Friday morn (see our goofy picture above).

I quickly texted back, “My daughter and I would love to join you at Action Ministries on Friday. It will be fun to see your eyeballs above your homemade mask.” Homemade mask. The phrase lingered in the air as I turned to open my email.

With God’s perfect timing, I was met virtually by a hilarious “sew-it-yourself” video (touch on the link below). As many of us are hitting a wall in this “shelter in place” experience, the creative humor running rampant on YouTube helps us over this high hump. (I must warn you, the video starts out a little serious before sparking tears of joy.)

Tears of joy will stream down their faces, and I will lead them home with great care. They will walk beside quiet streams and on smooth paths where they will not stumble (Jeremiah 31:9a, NLT).

…Sue…

P.S. If you would also like to volunteer in small groups at the Action Ministries warehouse, helping to curb hunger in our Atlanta community, sign up to serve in the days ahead. If you do not feel comfortable serving six feet apart, you are welcome to donate money to cover the cost of these boxes of non-perishable food ($10 value). Each individual box will supplement food stamps for a family of four for eight to ten days.
