Good morning…
I feel like I just birthed a 12 pound baby. Naturally. After three full day of hard, hard labor.
Our baby was conceived by God a long while back, but this was the weekend her due date graced my calendar. Sunday was my well anticipated time to deliver. For months and months, really years and years, new life had been growing in me, quietly, slowly. When the time was right, I pushed her living body into this welcoming world.
September 30th, at 11:58 am. This is the moment I pressed “send” on the email delivering the full term manuscript for our church’s 2019 Advent devotional. Twenty-four days. An introduction. A conclusion. Each daily treasure weighing 350 words or less.
I labored in love all weekend long, so for the first time since I began blogging daily seven years ago, I took an unplanned morning off. As I was preoccupied with birthing a 12 pound manuscript, our online community received no blog post. I think I will call yesterday my maternity leave morning.
What growing baby has God conceived in you? When is your predicted due date?
Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, [that special endowment] which was intentionally bestowed on you [by the Holy Spirit]… Practice and work hard on these things; be absorbed in them [completely occupied in your ministry], so that your progress will be evident to all. Pay close attention to yourself [concentrate on your personal development] and to your teaching; persevere in these things [hold to them], for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you (1 Timothy 4:14-17, AMP).
