Good morning…

“Can’t help but think Elizabeth is the cause of this incredible sunset,” texted a friend. “I am in Key West fishing, and I saw her (whom I have never met, but obviously heard a lot about) in a lot of beauty yesterday (Thursday). Praying for the family.”

“Elizabeth loves the ocean,” I explained. “As a family, they recently went to the beach house of a generous friend. We prayed that she would make it through that special week, and she did. On Monday, they got home, and hospice came. Wednesday was their 14th anniversary, and she made it through that sacred day, just as we had prayed. Elizabeth went to heaven on Thursday, just after noon. She stayed with us on earth for as long as was humanly possible, loving and present with every ounce of her being.”

“Tell me your story of seeing Elizabeth,” I encouraged, “and share with me photos of the beautiful sky welcoming her to our eternal home.”

“Yesterday (Thursday), I read your post as we were leaving the marina,” she texted. “I shared it with those with me. We discussed how special it is to be ushered into heaven, surrounded by family. What a gift given in such a torturous situation. We saw beautiful nature all day. The fish, the birds and most of all the sky. During our long run back, we saw beauty everywhere, and we thought of Elizabeth.”

“So, so gorgeous,” I thanked my friend for sharing her experience and her photos. “Heaven and earth are so intertwined, and eternal life is the air we breathe, now and forevermore. I’m grateful your family continues to share in God’s evolving story with Elizabeth and her loved ones.”

God! Let the cosmos praise your wonderful ways,
the choir of holy angels sing anthems to your faithful ways!
Search high and low, scan skies and land,
you’ll find nothing and no one quite like God.

Your vibrant beauty has gotten inside us—
you’ve been so good to us! We’re walking on air!
All we are and have we owe to God (Psalm 89:10, 18, MSG).

Heaven and earth are so intertwined, and eternal life is the air we breathe.

Both now and forevermore.
