Good morning…
Traveling with my husband Steve to a destination wedding he was officiating, I had no idea I would be completely unplugged. In our quaint, quiet cottage, we had no wi-fi, no internet, no cell service, no television. That meant no blog posts created for our written word community on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. I was forced to go unexpectedly silent.
Unplugging from normal connections, I sensed myself plugging in differently. Prayerfully. Peacefully. Powerfully.
I journaled more than I blogged. I read silently more than reading aloud in class. I walked on the white sand beach rather than walk/talking at the horse farm I love. I listened to the rhythms of nature more than the rhetoric of the news. I met new people and reconnected with old friends. Great food. Good conversations. Gorgeous surroundings. I drifted through the days with Steve, alone some then together.
Now, what a beautiful way to begin this Valentine’s Day week, returning home with renewed gratitude for God, for Steve, for the everyday life we are privileged to share with so many of you.
“Just think about how happy you would be if you lost everything you love right now . . . then gained it all back,” goes the old saying. Though I remained deeply connected through the mystery of prayer, for three days I unexpectedly lost the ability to reach out to loved ones by text, by phone, by email, by our daily blog . . . and right now I am extremely happy to gain back everything I so dearly love.
You are joined together with peace through the Spirit. Do all you can to continue as you are, letting peace hold you together (Ephesians 4:3, ERV). Beyond the touches of technology, might we continue to let God’s powerful peace hold us together?
