Good morning…

As the rains set in yesterday morning, our afternoon plans needed to change. As regular weekly volunteers, we brainstormed indoor activities for our final Monday gathering at PAWkids. Beading. Board games. Musical chairs. Freeze dance. Then came the Program Director’s request. “Cookie decorating, maybe?”

My happy heart lit up. Since I have a mom who loved making homemade cookies with us, I became a mom who loved making homemade cookies with our four kids. What joy to invest in this labor of love on behalf of these fun, friendly children! Decorating homemade cookies was the hit of our final gathering, a gathering we were graciously able to host outside.

Talking with my mom in Ohio before I began to bake, I said, “I am so grateful to have a mom like you, who has shaped a lucky mom like me.”

I’ve kept my feet on the ground,
I’ve cultivated a quiet heart.
Like a baby content in its mother’s arms,
my soul is a baby content (Psalm 131:1-2, MSG).

As we wrap up another amazing semester together, my soul is a baby content.

P.S. Thanks to the Mission Circle from Northside Church for providing funds for the homemade dinner prepared by a mom in the Grove Park community.
