Good morning…
I went with a dear friend to the CeCe Winans concert at the Fox Theatre this week. This week, as Jerry’s body was laid to rest at age 64, leaving his family and friends to grieve. This week, when thousands of ordinary people have lost their lives on all the ugly sides of our world’s deep divide. This week, when peace, inside us and between us, seems to be drifting further and further away. This week, when family and friends are exhausted by difficult decisions, are weighed down by the impact of cancer and politics, depression and Alzheimers, divorce and hospice care. This week, I’m feeling war-torn.
Show me grace, Eternal God. I am completely undone.
Bring me back together, Eternal One. Mend my shattered bones.
My soul is drowning in darkness.
How long can You, the Eternal, let things go on like this?
Come back, Eternal One, and lead me to Your saving light.
Rescue me because I know You are truly compassionate (Psalm 6:2-4, VOICE).
In the middle of our nurturing night, CeCe sang a little song, short and sweet, a song which sums up my deepest prayer during this war-torn week.
