Good morning…

Yesterday’s post, Living A Secret, ended with an empowering statement: I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace (Philippians 4:13, AMP). Infuse. I do not meet that word very often, yet just now I open my book to read today’s Bible study homework and here are the paragraphs seeping into me.

My favorite translation of Philippians 4:13 is from the late Greek scholar Kenneth Wuest: I am strong for all things in the One who constantly infuses strength in me. At all times, in all circumstances, Christ is able and willing to provide the strength we need to be content. Contentment occurs when Christ’s strength is infused into my weak body, soul, and spirit. To infuse means to pour, soak, or extract. Every morning when I dip my herbal tea bag into boiling water, I witness infusion.

How does God enable us to be content? He infuses contentment into us through His Word. As it seeps into our minds, it transforms us. Just as a cup of tea gets stronger when we give it time to steep, so we become more content when we spend time in God’s Word and allow it to seep into our lives, transforming us to be like Him. (Linda Dillow’s Calm My Anxious Heart, 15)

God cracks me up. His timing is impeccable. Giving us “infuse” to end yesterday’s post then giving us “infuse” to begin today’s homework. If every morning we dip our heart’s tea bag into God’s living water, giving ourselves time to steep in His Word, the infusion of Christ’s inner strength and confident peace will gradually transform our everyday lives.
