heart-crack

Good morning…

This morning as I spend quality time with God in the little chapel of my soul, I think about the invisible expectations filling each room we enter, especially during the holiday season. The mysterious matrix we quietly step into is made up of unmet wants (our own and others), subtle and not-so-subtle demands, and deeper aching needs often left unnamed.

Adding an image to illuminate God’s insight, the Spirit sparks in my mind “the laser dance” from the 2004 movie Oceans Twelve. Watching this movie clip again, I am reminded that the Spirit of God can provide for us the inner music and the nimble new moves needed to gracefully maneuver through each “laser field in the grey hall.”

An unexplored minefield of wants and wounds exists in every mind and in every heart. As we listen to the Spirit directing us from within, God can guide us through the invisible laser beams of unhealed hurts and unspoken expectations secretly set up inside and around us. Take a moment to enjoy the movie clip below. Listen and be led. In every room we enter this holiday season, may we be guided gracefully by God through each curtain of contempt into the spaciousness of loving and being loved.

This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary (Hebrews 6:19, NLT).
