Good morning…

“Death is not an end,” said Andrew Young, as he paid tribute to his long time friend, Jimmy Carter, who died yesterday at 100 years old. “It’s a transition, a time of separation, a time of grace and mercy. Jimmy was a man who lived a wonderful life obedient to the still small voice of God leading him as he led others.”

The still small voice of God led Jimmy to work for peace across our globe, demonstrating his faith by bridging the gap between rich and poor through the establishment of Habitat for Humanity and extensive humanitarian and health efforts in poverty-stricken places throughout our world. For his diligent hard work, Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.

“Race, peace, and economic justice are all intertwined. Jimmy understood this,” explained Young. “He lived an old fashion faith. This is not a sad time, it is a triumphant time. Jimmy spent his life serving God and all God’s children here in Georgia and beyond. Great is his reward in heaven.”

God has shown you his grace in many different ways. So be good servants and use whatever gift he has given you in a way that will best serve each other. If your gift is speaking, your words should be like words from God. If your gift is serving, you should serve with the strength that God gives. Then it is God who will be praised in everything through Jesus Christ. Power and glory belong to him forever and ever. Amen (1 Peter 4:10-11, ERV).

At each remembrance of Jimmy Carter, God will be praised in everything.

Following Carter’s down-to-earth example, how might we live a wonderful life obedient to the still small voice of God leading us as we lead others?
