Good morning…

I sat on our back porch, wind chimes clanking loudly, bold breeze tickling trees, leaves dancing freely, every-which-way. As I rested outside after our Carry the Torch luncheon, experientially my wind-blown skin felt the resounding truth: “This is not just a movie, this is a movement.”

Having shared goosebumps the night before over our favorite movie scene, when I saw Renee Zellweger at the World Congress Center yesterday, I hugged her and kissed her petite cheek as I would an old friend. Animated actor Jon Voight praised Atlanta as “a little slice of heaven” for our collective efforts as a city to reduce the number of homeless in our community by two-thirds over the last decade. Co-author Ron Hall and his fascinating wife Beth were friendly and fun to be with, engaging and encouraging. Julie Moran, former co-host of Entertainment Tonight and well-loved member of our Lovett Sr. Moms Study group, interviewed the author, the actors, and the movie director, helping us to understand the personal impact this film has had on their lives.

“This is not just a movie, this is a movement,” echoed through the voices of each person involved in this project.

“How many sides to anything is they?” homeless co-author Denver Moore asked before waking up in our heavenly home in March of 2012. “North side, south side, east side, west side, top side, bottom side, inside, outside, upside, downside, front side, back side, smooth side, rough side. Wisdom is experiencing ALL sides to everything.”

Yesterday, the Spirit’s multi-sided movement empowered about 1500 of us to understand two key things: we can each make a difference every day and we are all the same kind of different, as Denver would say, “We is all homeless just workin’ our way back home.”

Whatever side of town you live on, whatever state you call your temporary home, please enjoy the movie Same Kind of Different As Me this weekend. Be deeply touched and join the Spirit’s movement blowing us all toward healing and oneness with God.

Jesus’ voice now joins the movement: Do not be surprised that I have told you, ‘You must be born again [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified].’ The wind blows where it wishes and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it is coming from and where it is going; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit” (John 3:7-9, AMP).
