Good morning…

“Campfire…” one reader began her follow up email. “A theme used to celebrate the life of my Tia Sue. She was my dad’s sister, who I was very close to. I may be going in a different direction with the campfire idea, but the poem really spoke to me, which is why I shared your recent post with my west coast family as we often discuss religion and spiritual thoughts, beliefs and discovering a common thread.”

“The placement of the logs builds a strong foundation for the campfire,” she continued. “Each log is placed with loving care while the forest offers us its generous spirit, giving us an endless supply of wood. The campfire burns bright but eventually burns down to ashes. Savoring the warm glow of the campfire, we must take a spark from the ashes and keep the flame going. I refer to my Tia Sue as the keeper of the flame, however she passed the spark to us to keep the flame alive. Just like the old campfire song, ‘It only takes a spark to get a fire going, and soon all those around will warm up in its glowing… That’s how it is with God’s love. Once you’ve experienced it, you want to sing, it’s fresh like spring, you want to pass it on…'”

This being so, I want to remind you to stir into flame the strength and boldness that is in you… For the Holy Spirit, God’s gift, does not want you to be afraid of people, but to be wise and strong, and to love them and enjoy being with them (2 Timothy 1:6-7, TLB).

“Love, love, love this campfire metaphor,” she shared the special bulletin honoring her Tia Sue.
