Good morning…
One thing I love most about being the Women’s Ministry Director at Northside Church in Atlanta, Georgia is creatively learning about God with a variety of women. Semester-by-semester, collaborative learning feeds our souls and transforms us gradually into the likeness of the living Christ. Now is the time to sign up for our 2021 Winter/Spring classes. Might you touch on the link below, browse our lineup of classes, and register for a learning experience that meets your needs?
In keeping with our church’s 2021 theme “FIT,” this semester I am teaching an interactive, God-directed class entitled “Waking Up Whole: Mind, Body, and Soul.” If you remember back to last spring before the pandemic completely derailed our plans, we were putting the finishing touches on our Awake To Wholeness Women’s Retreat, hosted with the women from Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Based on their book The Hidden Life Awakened, authors Kitty Crenshaw and Dr. Cathy Snapp planned to join us for a welcoming weekend of learning on March 27th and 28th. The first beloved thing stolen for me by COVID was needing to postpone this amazing event we had been diligently planning for over a year.
One thing I had done in preparation for the event was to create a companion journal for the retreat participants, a journal chocked full of quotes from this life-changing book. God had drawn me to forty book quotes designed to wake up the hidden wholeness God has implanted in each one of us. These forty quotes have now morphed into the backbone of our semester study, Waking Up Whole: Mind, Body, and Soul.
During this online, interactive study we will be invited by God to take five minutes, to savor five segments of learning, for eight meaningful weeks. We are offering two class discussion options to unpack what God is teaching us week by week. On Fridays from 10:30 to 11:30 am, beginning on January 22nd, we will meet face to face at Northside Church to share what we are personally learning with God. Then on Mondays 1:00 to 2:00 pm, beginning January 25th, we will cover the same material for those interested in learning by Zoom from the comfort of their own home. I will teach remotely from our living room, guiding the larger group into small break out groups of three, allowing for an intimate opportunity to listen to one another’s weekly learning.
Variety blankets our winter/spring semester in Women’s Ministries at Northside Church. We offer three weekly Zoom classes, two in-person classes hosted at church, and one hybrid class, which combines Zoom and in-person fellowship. Check out the options and sign up for a class that piques your interest.
The Lord said to me, “Gather the people together to listen to what I have to say. Then they will learn to respect me as long as they live on earth. And they will teach these things to their children” (Deuteronomy 4:10b, ERV).
