light

Good morning…

As I pulled out my phone’s camera to snap a photo of the rising sun, I thought, “How do we response to the dawning of light?” We can’t stop it or deny it or contain it for ourselves. We can only notice it. Admire it. Expect it. Reflect it. Appreciate it. Hope for it. Bask in it. Walk by it. Be warmed with it. Grow strong in the glow of light’s many benefits.

Now my mind wanders back to the painting in our post from earlier this week Are You Tired Too?

I am captivated by the light of the baby Jesus. We powerless human beings can’t stop it or deny it or contain it.

Just as the prophet Isaiah had predicted: Those who walked in darkness have seen a radiant light shining upon them. They once lived in the shadows of death, but now a glorious light has dawned! (Isaiah 9:2, TPT). I am so thankful to the Almighty God who put on skin to be born beside us into every form of darkness. In him there was life [or What was made through him was life], and that life was the light of all people. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overpowered [defeated; or understood; comprehended] it (John 1:4-5, EB).

Later, in one of his talks, Jesus said to the people, “I am the Light of the world. So if you follow me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness, for living light will flood your path” (John 8:12, TLB). Flooded by the living light of Christ we notice. We admire. We expect. We reflect. We appreciate. We hope. We bask. We walk. We are warmed. We grow from the glow of God’s many benefits.

This day and each day, how will you choose to respond to the undeniable, incomprehensible light of Christ flooding your personal path?
