Good morning…
Last week, it was delightful to share lunch with Audrey and our Fab Five friends. Having met at a Bible study in my living room many, many years ago, this group of amazing women has stayed in constant touch throughout Audrey’s fourteen year journey with cancer, facing traditional treatments for neuroblastoma, repeated relapses, hospital stays in different cities, and endless rounds of painful trial treatments. A lot of you in our written word community have heard about Audrey. On Friday, it was really fun to hear from Audrey herself about her recent experience of healing.
In Ben DeShelter’s post from last month, he recounted the story of Audrey’s divine healing and the miraculous reversal of her quickly deteriorating symptoms. Audrey described for us in detail her life-changing experience at a church in Miami, Florida, the church of Ben’s childhood best friend. The day after their long drive south, they were in prayer services for hours and hours and hours. Later they met privately with the pastor, who urged the DeShetler family to completely release Audrey into the powerful care of Jesus.
No clinging. No controlling. No continuing to strive. Ben and Jennifer were encouraged, once and for all, to release Audrey into the compassionate care of Jesus. There is no place where Audrey would rather be, held in the healing embrace of Jesus (just like her transformative vision predicted). “I feel Jesus with me, taking good care of me,” said Audrey.
Scans from last week revealed that the cancer, which had expanded to more than 25% of her body, had reduced down to 2%, showing drastic improvement. As we ate lunch, she was off oxygen and she freely shared with us her dry quick wit and impish smile.
When the moment is right, we are all invited to completely release our closest loved ones into the loving care of Jesus, directly. This often happens when our loved ones go on to heaven; we release them into the full presence of our Triune God. It is empowering to see the beautiful benefits of Audrey fully at peace in the healing care of Jesus, while she is living as a nineteen year old on this earth.
Yesterday, late morning, Ben posted the following words about their experience as a family. What an incredible testimony God is orchestrating in the life of this small and mighty woman of deep, abiding faith.
Thank you for your continued prayers for Audrey and the DeShetlers, as their journey with Jesus expands into eternity.
…Sue…
