Good morning…

900. That’s right. A whoppin’ 900 points were scored on the single SAT test I took in 1980. Nowadays, a handful of brainiacs score the perfect 1600, many kids score just below perfection, and every high school student I know gets a tutor and takes the test two, three, four or more times to boost their chances of getting into the college of their dreams. 900 got me to a life that I love.

After I graduated from high school, college, and graduate school, even my loving mom (who has kept secret my true I.Q. score) said, “You certainly are an overachiever!” 900 on my SAT is both completely horrible and extremely helpful. Since traditional methods of learning, often tested by the SAT, did not mix well with my dyslexic, ADD brain, God grew for me creative avenues of learning.

Did you know that to educate means to “draw out?” I learned that at an intimate dinner party over a bottle of wine last month.

My 900 ACT score and my low I.Q. were no surprise to God. For heaven’s sake, He wired me this way. With powerful creativity, the LORD continues to kick in to “draw out” the gifts bestowed on me from before time began. Day after day, my imperfect self pairs up with God’s perfecting power and the “tested by life” scores are off the charts!

Do not neglect the spiritual gift within you, [that special endowment] which was intentionally bestowed on you [by the Holy Spirit]… Practice and work hard on these things; be absorbed in them [completely occupied in your ministry], so that your progress will be evident to all. Pay close attention to yourself [concentrate on your personal development] and to your teaching; persevere in these things [hold to them], for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you (1 Timothy 4:14-16, AMP),
