Good morning…
I sensed God concluding yesterday’s message with this deep desire: “Connected to our Creator, I want me, the real me, and you, the real you, to mature into the unique people God is coaxing us to be.” This concept had expanded from an vivid picture of the lasting mother/child bond painted on Mother’s Day morn to a life-giving, everyday relationship with each person we meet. Jesus expands further our mutually beneficial relationships to teach us the non-existent line between family and spiritual friends.
In Matthew 12:47-50 (AMP), Jesus teaches us about nurturing a spiritual family. Someone said to Him, “Look! Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside asking to speak to You.” But Jesus replied to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” And stretching out His hand toward His disciples [and all His other followers], He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven [by believing in Me, and following Me] is My brother and sister and mother.”
You and I are in each other’s spiritual family when we invest our lives in doing the will of our Father who is in heaven. We believe in Jesus, and, as we follow in his compassionate lead, we become adopted as Jesus’ brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers. Continuing to nurture a bond with Jesus, we recognize each other as spiritual sisters and brother, as mentoring mothers and fathers. As spiritual family members connected to our Creator, I want me, the real me, and you, the real you, to mature into the unique people God is coaxing us to be.
