dreams

Good morning…

As I wake on our thirty-fourth wedding anniversary, I am drawn to a quirky picture hanging on our wall. Several months back I found this framed photo on a shelf at Goodwill. I brought her home, hung her upside down, and dumped out all of the dreams this image evokes.

These playful children make me think of our four kids, who over the years have shared the art of making their own fun. The blurry brown bodies also remind me of all the kids we enjoyed on our Lovett School family mission trips over the years, two trips to the Dominican Republic, two trips to Guatemala, and one trip to Honduras. In addition, this colorfully muted picture conjures up all of the hopes I have for the grandkids, great grandkids, and great great grandkids who may grace the horizon of our family’s fertile future.

Finally, this dreamy photo also draws me back to the music video ending yesterday’s post, Lean On Me. All across the globe, God unites us as a family of human beings, inspiring deep hopes and wide dreams for generations to come. On this Sabbath morn, I feel compelled to share another Playing for Change song, highlighting talented street performers who are standing by you, me, and Steve as we prayerfully live our way into God’s expansive love.

Whatever happens, keep living your lives based on the reality of the gospel of Christ. …stand united in one Spirit and one passion—celebrating together as conquerors in the faith of the gospel. And then you will never be shaken or intimidated by the opposition that rises up against us (Philippians 1:27-28a, TPT).
