PAWkids

Good morning…

The gathering at PAWkids tonight has been loosely planned. Given a brief description of the needs for the night, “snacks and drinks,” an excited group of us stepped forward to provide refreshments as the police officers in Grove Park hold open the blue house to provide safety and loving care for the hungry and the homeless on this unique New Year’s Eve. Somehow I sense that the looseness of our human planning gave God an opportunity to quietly lead, joyfully, generously, unhindered by have-to’s.

The pile of gathered goodies effortlessly grew. Homemade cupcakes and cookies. Hot cocoa and marshmallows. Paper products and bottled waters. Chocolate milk and canned beverages. Snack bags of chips and microwave popcorn. Oranges, bananas, apples. Oatmeal packets and breakfast bars. Wrapped chocolates and trail mix. The Spirit spurred me to make turkey soup from scratch. Kept warm on the stove, I envision the smell of God’s love filling the blue home. Financial donations also came in to fund any unmet needs for the evening.

“Drop things off on our covered front porch,” I encouraged. “I will gather and deliver our goodies by late afternoon.”

One woman said as she dropped off her stuff, “This is so easy. As we each do a little, God does a lot. I feel like we are doing just what Jesus did, simply meeting a need right before our eyes.”

I agree. This gathering and giving feels so simple, so effortless. The entire experience has been saturated sweetly with God’s ease, flow and peace.

Before leaving earth for heaven, Jesus encouraged his closest friends. The Spirit of truth will come and guide you in all truth. He will not speak His own words to you; He will speak what He hears, revealing to you the things to come and bringing glory to Me. The Spirit has unlimited access to Me, to all that I possess and know, just as everything the Father has is Mine. That is the reason I am confident He will care for My own and reveal the path to you (John 16:13-15, VOICE).

I was hoping for detailed guidance from a human leader, a hefty checklist of needed items, a clear, concise game plan for the night. Instead the Spirit of our living Lord inspired a handful of us to contribute whatever God laid on our hearts. Orchestrated by the Spirit, tonight’s fun feasting at the blue house will bring great glory to God!

Happy New Year to each of you, as the unlimited Spirit comes and guides, speaks truth and creatively cares. Rest in confidence. The Spirit of God is revealing to you a peaceful path to abundant life.
