Good morning…
Okay, I just have to tell you a really embarrassing story.
One summer day, I parked our van in the garage like normal, like I do every day. As I walked around the back bumper into our house, I noticed a plastic box hanging on the garage wall. “Huh,” I thought, “I’ve never seen that before.”
On the box I read the word “SPRINKLES” with a phone number below. I opened up the hinged door of the six-inch-square box and inside I saw a circular dial with various settings. I walked into our home and said, “Steve, do we have a sprinkler system in our yard?”
He was as clueless as me. We have lived in this home for over four years now, and we had no idea we were sitting on the costly goldmine of our hidden sprinkler.
Our Triune God (Creator, Son, Spirit) has set up an elaborate sprinkler system in each of our yards. Undeserved forgiveness. Unconditional love. Unending grace. The LORD has already installed an underground watering matrix beneath our everyday lives. A conversational relationship. Collaboration with Christ. The same Holy Spirit power raising Jesus from the dead. Everything is all perfectly designed, freely available, completely complete, right now. Heaven on earth. Healing to wholeness. Eternal oneness with the God of the universe.
My embarrassing story unearths great questions.
- Do I realize this hidden sprinkler is in my yard?
- Am I interested in learning how it works so effectively?
- Will I turn it on regularly to water the seeds purposely planted in my everyday life?
- Can I trust God to grow spiritual fruit in me, unique fruit deeply needed to help feed our hungry world?
You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting (John 15:16a, AMP).
