Good morning…

“All great spirituality teaches about letting go of what you don’t need and who you are not,” says Richard Rohr, American Franciscan friar who is a beloved, prolific writer. “Then, when you can get little enough and naked enough and poor enough, you’ll find that the little place where you really are is ironically more than enough and is all that you need. At that place, you will have nothing to prove to anybody and nothing to protect. That place is called freedom. It’s the freedom of the children of God. Such people can connect with everybody. They don’t feel the need to eliminate anybody . . .”

Genesis 2:25 (NIV) recalls our original state: Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. When we can let go of what we don’t need and who we are not, we find ourselves to the freedom for which we were designed.

For you…were called to freedom; only do not let your freedom become an opportunity for the sinful nature (worldliness, selfishness), but through love serve and seek the best for one another. For the whole Law [concerning human relationships] is fulfilled in one precept, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, you shall have an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit]” (Galatians 5:13-14, AMP).

Stripped down to our naked essence, we connect with everybody, feeling no need to eliminate anybody.
