Good morning…

Responding to my daughter’s request, I went to my first hot yoga class. I set up my mat right next to hers. Lots of fit, agile bodies filed into the tiny, warm room. Their familiar comfort zone was foreign to me. As the crowded roomful began to breathe deep, we were asked to set an intention for our practice. A word. A phrase. A focus for our minds and bodies. Which two words popped into my mind?

“Good enough.” I intended to try a “good enough” down dog, a “good enough” pigeon, triangle, and tree pose, a “good enough” handstand against the wall. Over the next hour, I followed through on my intention, successfully achieving “good enough.”

I walked away from the studio intentionally taking with me the gift of my two words. Since perfection lives out of reach, I guess our only achievable goal in all areas of daily life is “good enough.” A “good enough” body. A “good enough” spouse and parent. A “good enough” believer, employee, and friend. We must intentionally trust God to fill in the gaps when our “good enough” falls short of perfection.

For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God], 1 Corinthians 13:12 (AMP),
