Good morning…
I met a soulmate through our “sue2you” blog. Many of the words God crafts through me in the wee hours resonate with her, offering her a companion to connect with at her deepest, darkest levels.
We all have them, don’t we? Deep, dark levels. Like the ocean floor of ourselves, our soul is teeming with unseen life. There is a colorful, fascinating underwater world alive within each of us. But who gives words to this vibrant landscape, invisible to the naked eye? She and I do.
I write, often in the dark of the night, and she writes back as the Spirit moves her. We name what we experience, claiming personally this loving truth: “There is no place in my self or in our world where God is not at work.” We understand that exploring every inch of of our true and false selves is fertile and frightening, exciting and exhausting, joyful and just plain hard sometimes. But we do it, we keep at it, because we know God, we trust God, and we meet God intimately on every level.
One morning we met and we talked face to face, yet every morning we spend time together when she opens my blog. She reads. She digests. She is fed and strengthen for the day and night ahead. She feels life fully, always; she writes back to me, sometimes. This week she turned forty years old, and at her birthday party with her closest family and friends, she shared authentic words of gratitude for each person in her inner circle, after reading aloud these touching words.
“Through my eyes and from my heart:
He made me vulnerable and painfully exposed but beautifully radiant.
Raw and fragile but strong and bold.
My Fear confronts faith and faith overcomes.
Angels shield me, roses in full bloom, butterflies float past, cardinals and bluebirds sit and stare signaling the Spirit is near.
The Holy Spirit sweeps in – a rush and a peace set in.
Blessed by family and friends – God’s gift of love transferred from one to another – soul to soul, skin to skin.
Searching to see beyond the flesh – inner struggles within us all – yet we must look into the eyes to see the soul and light – building each other up from a flicker to a flame.
Suffering – it always builds strength.
Anxiety propels me forward or stops me in my tracks until I release and let it go – oh, the relief of letting go is so precious, as it opens the door to life worth living.
Sorrow yields to joy.
Love and sadness stand side by side.
Present and eternal become one as we relinquish control.
Death becomes everlasting Life
And Grace always wins.
Thankful for the gift of Christ, my family and each of you.”
O Lord, what a variety of things you have made!
In wisdom you have made them all.
The earth is full of your creatures.
Here is the ocean, vast and wide,
teeming with life of every kind,
both large and small…
They all depend on you
to give them food as they need it.
When you supply it, they gather it.
You open your hand to feed them,
and they are richly satisfied.
But if you turn away from them, they panic.
When you take away their breath,
they die and turn again to dust.
When you give them your breath, life is created,
and you renew the face of the earth, Psalm 104:24, 25, 28-30 (NLT),
