Good morning…

I have never understood the phrase fear of the Lord. It seems like such an oxymoron to fear a God who loves us unconditionally, beyond our wildest imagination. The things we fear we usually stay away from, so why does Proverbs 1:7 make it clear that fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge?

I have never really understood this unsettling phrase, fear of the Lord, until yesterday when I watched the video below. I could totally relate to the life-giving wisdom shared by Sarah Otto as she talks about the process of teaching their fearless two year old how to safely swim.

We cross the threshold of true knowledge when we live in obedient devotion to God. Stubborn know-it-alls will never stop to do this, for they scorn true wisdom and knowledge (Proverbs 1:7, TPT).

We are invited to revere, respect, rely completely upon our Heavenly Father, who is always a force for abundant life, whose expansive plans for us are exceedingly bigger than anything we could ever imagine.

Enjoy the Lord’s profound wisdom poured through Sarah as she reflects on her reading of Exodus 3:4-14.
