Good morning…

When my inside self feels topsy-turvy, off-balance, cockeyed, truth finally dawns: “I have elbowed God out of the way.” I have stopped diligently anchoring myself in Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, forever. I have started tipping toward my own selfish whims.

I hate this topsy-turvy, off-balance feeling, this experience of spinning cockeyed. It’s hard for me to tolerate instability for very long. “I give up,” eventually my inner voice raises a white flag. The white flag is recognized internationally as a symbol of surrender, truce and request for negotiation. The experience of topsy-turvy, off-balance, spinning cockeyed becomes a real gift when I realize, “God, it’s time to raise my white flag of surrender. Again.”

One small word helps me in these overwhelming “white flag” moments: P.A.U.S.E.

P. – Put

A. – Aside

U. – You (your agenda, your demands, your desired outcome)

S. – Surrender

E. – Everything

If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7, TLB).

If you choose not to do this, topsy-turvy, off-balance, spinning cockeyed will steal God’s peace.

Might it be time to take a P.A.U.S.E.?

Put aside U (your agenda, your demands, your desired outcome). Surrender everything. Will you do it or not?

God’s peace permeates each P.A.U.S.E.
