Good morning…
Last night power drained out of me, as I taught a roomful of women at a nearby church. The requested topic? The Enneagram, an ancient personality test used by Christian mystics. My source of exhaustion? A new group of people, a plethora of information, tons of creative energy expended. The greatest grace experienced? Afterwards, I had time alone at home to gradually recharge.
I felt drawn to create a Soul Collage card, staying open and receptive beneath the outpouring of God.
I remembered a story about power draining out of Jesus too.
As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.
“Who touched me?” Jesus asked.
When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.”
But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”
Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace” (Luke 8:42b-48, NIV).
When power had drained out of me, it could not go unnoticed. Through quiet creativity, I touched the presence of the living Christ. Healing power was restored. Faithfully trusting God, I drifted to sleep in peace.
Now as I am stirred awake in the wee hours of this night, God’s healing power goes out to you. Arise, shine, for your light has broken through! The Eternal One’s brilliance has dawned upon you (Isaiah 60:1).
