storm

Good morning…

In last week’s Sunday school class, we admired the kindness, the empathy and the attunement of the main character in the book Theo of Golden, written by Allen Levi. Learning from the life of Theo, might we all come to realize how important it is to see people, really see people who are walking this earth with us? To sit on the bench with them. To spend quality time. To listen and learn about the unique facets of each person. Theo, a Christ-like figure, spends intentional time with each of the townspeople, one on one, honoring the true value of who they really are. Even those on the margins of this small community, Theo gifts every single person with his peaceful, attentive presence.

I thought of Theo this Thanksgiving weekend, as I watched an uplifting music video created by talented singer-songwriter Carrie Newcomer. She too knows the value of seeing people, really seeing people, with the welcoming eyes of Christ.

In the kingdom of our living God, there is room at the table for everyone. Luke 13:29 in the EASY translation says it this way: At that time, people will come from everywhere in the world, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south. They will all come to take their place in the kingdom of God. There they will sit down together to eat a great meal.

Enjoy this eternal truth being creatively bought to life!

As you watch, listen and savor the song, which set of feet might be hardest for you to sit down beside at the table of God? What might your answer say about the growing edge of your expanding heart?
