Good morning…
“When you take a child and you sit a box on top of them, all they know is what is inside the box,” said the quote that began this week’s morning messages. “But if you remove that box then the rest of the world is at their fingertips.”
The same is true for all of us, isn’t it? None of us choose the box given to us at birth. Gender. Skin color. Body type. Personality. Parents. Birth order. Social setting. Economic level. Religious affiliation. A given generation in all of time. None of us choose the box into which we are born. Both breath and bones, our human body holds our God-crafted soul. The family called “ours” is endowed with a powerful potential to both hurt and to heal. We are surrounded by a given place with imperfect people, handed a small handful of real possibilities. None of us choose the box into which we are born.
At the right moment, God opens our inner eyes to look beyond our given box, removing the burdensome barriers prescribed at our birth. Now I invite you to watch this video again, marveling with the many born into the box of a different beginning. In what ways is God’s healing happening in the wounding world right at our fingertips?
Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life” (John 4:13-14, NLT).
