Good morning…

When I look back on this week of growing spiritually with you, I must admit I was a bit embarrassed that I had written about God “easter-ing” in us on the Monday after a weekend revealing another senseless synagogue shooting. “Easter-ing” is about Christ living on in us, right? And our Jewish friends have different beliefs about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. How can God “easter” in us in a way that sparks widespread healing to wholeness, Jewish and Christian, shooters and survivors, homeless and mansion-dwellers? How God, how?

Three Scriptures merge in my mind as I consider God’s answer.

…The Lord is our God, the Lord is one [the only God]! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and mind and with all your soul and with all your strength [your entire being]. These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be [written] on your heart and mind (Deuteronomy 6:4-6, AMP).

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” And Jesus replied to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’ The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:36-40, AMP).

The LORD has said…

“…I will bless you;
…and you will be a blessing.
…and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you” (Genesis 12:1-3, NIV).

I suppose our written word ministry is designed to remind: “Focus your heart and mind, soul and strength (your entire being) on loving the Lord our God, the only God.” From this place of compassionate connection, we are each blessed by the LORD to be a unique blessing, as together we spread God’s love to the ends of the earth. The single task is the same for all of us, Jewish or Christian, shooters or survivors, homeless or mansion-dwells. We are to love God with our whole being, as we watch God’s healing love expand through us each day.
