Good Morning…
Many of you loved our recent post “Soak Like a Sponge” and, as I have been resting in the wisdom, I have felt a new facet of truth lift to my awareness.
Another definition of “soak” is to extract a stain by immersion in a powerful liquid. To remove a stain by submerging soiled fabric in a cleaning agent. To lift dirt out of cloth by soaking in a stain remover. I think of the old laundry detergent commercials which show a stain being gradually lifted from soiled fabric simply by soaking, waiting, soaking some more.
Isn’t that exactly what happens with us? When we prayerfully immerse ourselves in the powerful love of God, soaking, waiting, and soaking some more, we gradually see ugly old habits lift from our everyday lives. Inner dirt is dislodged and disintegrated, eventually disappearing. Our only task is to soak and Christ makes us clean. Inside and out, Christ makes us clean.
“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool”(Isaiah 1:18, AMP).
In the footnotes of this Scripture I read: “There was a legend among the rabbis that on the Day of Atonement a scarlet woolen thread was tied to the door of the temple, and when the scapegoat reached the wilderness (Lev 16:10), if the sins of Israel were forgiven the thread would miraculously turn white.”
As we soak in the power of God’s loving forgiveness, our criminal crimson is transformed to welcoming white.
