Good morning…

How do you remember which is which – stationary or stationery? This thought helps my dyslexic brain: the first vowel is “a” and we first need to be stationary, not moving, fixed. We rest motionless, immobile, anchored. From this place of stillness, we pull out our stationery, our writing materials, our pen, paper, and envelope.

That leads my brain to another question – is it envelope or envelop? We keep the “e” from stationery, tucking our kind, handwritten words into an envelope, a casing, a wrapper. Dropping the “e,” we envelop our loved ones, we blanket them, we swaddle them, engulfing them with our care and prayer.

So, when you pray in your private prayer language, don’t hoard the experience for yourself. Pray for the insight and ability to bring others into that intimacy, 1 Corinthians 14:13a (MSG),
