Good morning…
In his message as a high school chaplain, recorded the day before Election Day 2020 and shared the day after all votes were cast, my husband Steve challenges us to asks ourselves, “What if? What if we have to live with people who don’t think like us, believe like us, act like us, or vote like us?”
50% of us will soon have to face this question: “What if I live in a country with a president I didn’t vote for?” But 100% of us, throughout our lifetime, will have to learn how to get along with people we don’t like or who don’t like us. How do we combat our culture of contempt? In his message below, Steve offers one key first step.
My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love. This is the only way we’ll know we’re living truly, living in God’s reality. It’s also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves (1 John 3:18-20, MSG).
