Good morning…
Slowly walking through the woods, I noticed a nutshell. Small. Sliced open. Simply symmetrical.
Secreted in our depths is the dawning awareness: The shape of Christ is the design of me. When life slices us open and our “Big I” begins to die, our true self begins to come to life: I am made to mirror the person of Christ.
For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3, NLT).
So I am not the one living now—it is Christ living in me (Galatians 2:20, ERV).
We have been given Christ’s way of thinking (1 Corinthians 2:16b, ERV).
Let your attitude be identical to that of Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5, NCB).
We love because he first loved us (1 John 4:19, ESV).
Carved down deep, we carry into this wounded world the loving light of Christ. Nutshell by nutshell. Day after day.
My dear friends, I’m not writing anything new here. This is the oldest commandment in the book, and you’ve known it from day one. It’s always been implicit in the Message you’ve heard. On the other hand, perhaps it is new, freshly minted as it is in both Christ and you—the darkness fading away and the True Light already blazing! (1 John 2:7-8, MSG).
