heart

Good morning…

“I loved your post today,” she texted right after receiving Our Jumbled Emotions. “How inspirational. I cherish this subscriber’s quote: ‘Surrender and trust – the scary but better path that leads to life!’ That is exactly where I am at! So scary!!”

“I listened to an intriguing podcast yesterday,” her text continued. “It said that we are all running on fear and caffeine, which is unfortunately a sad truth for so many people in today’s whacky world. But we don’t have to.”

There is another way. God’s higher, healing way.

Surrender.

Trust.

Jesus said to those running on fear and caffeine during his years on earth: “You are busy analyzing the Scriptures, poring over them hoping to gain eternal life. Everything you read points to me, yet you still refuse to come to me so I can give you the life you’re looking for—eternal life!” (John 5:38-40, TPT).

Jesus invites his followers, then and now, into an intimate relationship not a rigid religion. God’s living presence has left the fingerprints of Jesus Christ all over everything. So I said, “Here I am! I’m coming to you as a sacrifice, for in the prophetic scrolls of your book you have written about me” (Psalm 40:7, TPT).

Surrender.

Trust.

This is the scary but better path.

Behold, I’m standing at the door, knocking. If your heart is open to hear my voice and you open the door within, I will come in to you and feast with you, and you will feast with me (Revelation 3:20, TPT).

Surrender.

Trust.

Hear.

Open.

Feast.

Knock. Knock. Is your heart open to hearing the voice of Christ?

If so, please open the door within.

…Sue…

P.S. Just now fresh insight dawns. Revelation 3:20 was the central Scripture verse God led me to in 2005 when I, lost and lonely, heavy and hollow, heard the Spirit’s crazy whisper in the middle of the night: “Host a Bible study in your home.” “Write the words I give you.” “Please pray about it.”

Host. Write. Pray. To these three life-changing words, I have opened my door within.

Surrender.

Trust.

Sixteen years later, I experientially know with every fibre of my being – this is the scary but better path that leads to life!
