Good morning…
Heading into this fertile Father’s Day weekend, which includes celebrating the freedom gained on Juneteenth, we simplify down to the abundant gifts of God. We choose open and generous living rather than secure, selfish, sheltered. Like the cover of the PAWkids photo book above reminds: “For a community to be whole and healthy, it must be based on people’s love and concern for each other.”
This morning, I think of the fun photos living in the homes of the children we enjoy in the after school program. Our PAWkids Mother’s Day project this May included taking pictures of the kids, collecting frames, and encouraging each person to decorate a creative gift to take home. Look at some of these memorable gems!
The joy didn’t stop there. We also made and framed copies of the photos for the kids to share loving gratitude with their teachers at school. The generosity did not even stop there. The staff framed copies of some of the fantastic photos to place around the three homes on the PAWkids campus.
God’s great gifts continue to expand as this weekend we are putting to good use the remaining money collected for this project in May. Today we are paying this month’s utility bill for a young family with three young kids as they get settled into their first apartment. We are also collecting gift cards to help stock the home with groceries and basic supplies for this sweet young family whose kids will be raised in our PAWkids programs.
What generous joy continues to expand as we live out the photo book quote: “For a community to be whole and healthy, it must be based on people’s love and concern for each other.” Thank you for the love and concern for all of you who contributed to our PAWkids Mother’s Day project. The gifts of God just keep on giving!
This Father’s Day weekend it is wise to remember the fun, fertile ways of our living Lord. It is possible to give away and become richer! It is also possible to hold on too tightly and lose everything. Yes, the liberal man shall be rich! By watering others, he waters himself (Proverbs 11:25, TLB).

P.S. If you have a gift card you would like to offer this young family, email me to make arrangements for pick up and I will take it to PAWkids this week. If you would instead like to make a contribution through the Gratitude Gift link on our SueToYou.com website, please identify your donation as “PAWkids Father’s Day project”. We will shower this family with tangible gifts of God’s love as they move into a stable home setting.
