kind

Good morning…

“Hey Sue,” she wrote. “On my walk, I was listening to your Ron Greer’s Wisdom blog about kindness from last week, and I happened upon this piece of art. Look closely at what someone left on the base of this statue.”

kind

In a world that can feel chaotic, confusing, catastrophic, we all need the gentle reminder of these two words on one stone. “Be Kind.”

On the same day I received her email, our class read aloud a short quote from our book.

“Through his life and teachings, in his compassionate interactions with individuals and groups, in his profound nonviolence even to the point of enduring a violent death, Jesus reveals a generous God, a God in profound solidarity with all creation, a God whose power is manifest in gentleness, kindness, and love.” (p. 122, The Great Spiritual Migration by Brian D. McLaren)

Through God’s indwelling Spirit, the same generous power transforms our own surrendered hearts. Whoever goes hunting for what is right and kind finds life itself—glorious life! (Proverbs 21:21, MSG).
