Good morning…
As I wake on this lazy Labor Day weekend, what is the strange word tickling the tip of my brain’s tongue?
“Hiatus.”
I google the meaning of “hiatus” and a plethora of possibility pours forth. A pause in a series, sequence, or process. A break. An intermission. A lull, respite, breather. I learn that in Latin the root word “hiare,” which means gape, was expanded to “hiatus” in the mid 16th century, denoting a physical gap or opening.
Following the seasonal rhythm God has established for me as an everyday blogger, during the months of June, July, and August, we as an online community take a “hiatus.” Then with joyful anticipation, each September 1st we return to discern fresh morning messages. As God joins us again through my listening pen, the light of Christ in me reflects the light of Christ in you and together we illuminate the LORD’s living presence.
Everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. This is why it is said: “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you,” (Ephesians 5:13-14, NIV).
